Fiesta Bowl Flag Football Showdown
On the heels of the inaugural season of Fiesta Bowl Friday Night Showdown in 2023, Fiesta Bowl Flag Football Showdown makes its debut in the fall of 2024. Part of the Fiesta Sports Foundation's strategic initiative of football engagement across all levels of the sport in Arizona, the Fiesta Bowl Flag Football Showdown features three games this fall. Girls flag football is rapidly growing in the state with participation doubling to 102 teams in the second season as a sanctioned sport by the AIA.
The Flag Football Showdown is the next step in the Fiesta Sports Foundation's initiative along with the announcement of the inaugural Preseason All-State High School teams. Last season, the Fiesta Sports Foundation hosted a girls flag football Legacy Football Clinic for girls of all ages featuring World Champion Flag Football Quarterback Diana Flores and invited the state's top high school players to the Arizona Milk Producers Fiesta Bowl Youth Football Clinic.
The three-game slate for Flag Football Showdown debuts on September 19 with a matchup featuring Highland at defending 5A champion Campo Verde. The schedule also includes defending 6A champion Mountain View (Mesa) at Millennium on October 15, and Hamilton at Chandler on November 7.
Like Friday Night Showdown, Flag Football Showdown will feature extensive social media coverage to highlight Arizona's top girls flag football student-athletes while continuing to spotlight positive community impact through the sport of football.
